The Scrapbook of Frankie Pratt: A Novel in Pictures - Caroline Preston Preston expertly captured the time period through the scrapbook of a young girl, Frankie, who was trying to make her mark in the world with dreams that were not typical of her station or societal convention. Subtly, Frankie matured from a teenage girl navigating the youth and freedom of college life to more experienced, wiser, cultured writer she becomes. So much life was poured into this character that I felt like I was reading about an actual pioneer woman from America's past and I felt a longing and attachment for a decade that I never lived in. Perhaps the novelty of the book's format helped, but I'd like to read more like this.
