The Invention of Hugo Cabret - Brian Selznick There really wasn't much of a story here, but the illustrations were fantastic, telling a better and more enriching story than the words did. And Selznick's attention to the technical details of the clocks and the automaton were fascinating to read, as were his descriptions- though I wish there were more- of Pre-World War II Paris. Honestly, though, I don't think I would have had a desire to finish the book without the lure of the illustrations.
